Elkem Carbon Solutions has a large and diverse R&D environment co-located with Elkem Technology at Elkem’s Research Center in Kristiansand. Our 1000 m2 lab houses full-fledged equipment and highly dedicated personnel with in-depth material, process, and application know-how. Our expertise is based on over 100 years of research in the field and build on Elkem history of technology and product development.

Process simulation

In the R&D lab we develop optimized carbon products based on alternative raw materials and product requirements. Product development covers the complete value chain from raw materials to product function and quality.

Testing of products

The R&D lab has all the capabilities required to do full quality screening of any metallurgical carbon product.

Products based on the most qualified Raw materials available. We continuously develop our raw material base enabling the best benefit for our customers.

Modelling and advanced data analysis

Elkem Carbon Solutions has developed advanced modelling tools for the assessment of the product interaction with the customer process. The models are used in technical customer support and continuously developed with support from R&D.

Elkem Carbon Solutions utilize advanced data analysis in the process and quality evaluation. We are also working with customers in this area to provide process support.
