Management development
We want our company to be characterised by dynamic leadership, which has a good foothold in and knowledge about our core processes, and skills to manage the development of products, processes and people within sound safety and environmental limits. Methods and principles in the Elkem Business System (EBS), provide guidelines and direction for how management practice shall be exercised in our organisation.
Knowledge about the processing industry´s special conditions in Norway and abroad, knowledge of technical and economic conditions to drive our processes optimally, and how to make sure that employees thrive and perform and get to use their knowledge and skills to the maximum, are essential management skills in Elkem.
EHS - training and sharing
Fokus is Elkem’s management system for EHS and includes training programmes for health, safety and the environment in the workplace. Focus is closely linked to the Elkem Business System sharing tools and methods. The emphasis is on continuous improvement and each employee’s involvement and responsibility to contribute to good results. All new employees receive basic Fokus training within six months.
Full understanding of health and safety risks and challenges ahve high priority at all plants. This understanding is obtained through extensive training, comprehensive risk assessment and through the sharing of information and experiences between plants. Key activities include basic training for all employees with training materials available in a number of languages.
An electronic document librabry is open for all EHS employees in the Elkem group and all employees have read access to the information
An annual EHS conference is held for 70-80 key EHS personnell from all plants and divisions sharing and discussing EHS improvements, incidents, pracitces and policies. Special EHS sessions are held for young leaders.
