Carboindustrial Plant

Carboindustrial is the main producer of Søderberg electrode paste for the ferroalloy industry in Latin America. In addition, the plant produces special carbon products for furnace linings and carbon electrodes for silicon production.

The operation started in February 1976 and the plant has been increasing capacity over the years. In 1993 Carboindustrial commissioned the production facility for prebaked carbon electrodes utilizing proprietary process technology.

Carboderivados Plant

Carboderivados is Elkem’s own coal tar distillation facility for the production and processing of pitches, oils and blends that are supplied to a variety of industries.

Elkem Carboderivados was established in 1987. The flexible production setup of the company allows it to meet the market needs quickly and deliver tailor-made products to its customers. The plant has an integrated management system for quality, safety and environment.

Products

Pitches and carbobinders are used in the production of anodes/cathodes in the aluminium industry, carbon electrodes and Søderberg electrode paste used in the ferroalloys and base metal industries. In addition, tailor-made oils and binders are supplied to the chemical and refractory industries.
